Greetings,

My name is Sabazius Athame. I know it's a mouthful, but it really is my name.

Ever since I can remember I loved reading myths, and Fables, Bible stories, and stories from the far east. This gave me an early and extensive knowledge of the fantastic and fabulous. It also set me on a quest to know who, or what, or where is God.

I was born Roman Catholic, and following the example of my parents I stopped going to church as soon as I left home at seventeen. A great guy in the military took interest in me as a candidate for Protestant Methodism. I loved their Bible stories and stuck it out for a couple of years. Then I met a not so zealous Jewish guy and because we were a good team for Pinochle we ended up good friends. I was soon taken in by his parents, who were more orthodox and they taught me another way of reading the bible. I loved it.. but like all good things, this too did pass.

My Jewish friend became a very successful salesman in Florida, and I returned to Massachusetts where I was saved by the slickest little four page pamphlet I ever read. I was now committed to my faith and studied the bible with new vigor.

This is where my life took on a life of it's own. (what does that mean?)In six months I was a deacon in my happy little Congregational church. Six months later I was invited to move to Joplin, MO, where I had an opportunity to go to college and work in a real small church that met in the back of a furniture store.  I managed to get two degrees, a BS and a BA in Psychology, and Sociology. I felt obligated to get my education quickly. I grew intellectually as our church also grew to more than two hundred and fifty faithful. We now met in our new $5,000,000 church on five acers of land. I was one of four pastors in the church, when the general fellowship wanted to be more in line with the other four thousand protestant fundamental independent evangelical and a little Pentecostal churches in Joplin.

Of the four pastors, I was the only one that went to a secular college. The other three all went to Ozark Bible college. So you can imagine my surprise when I was chosen to create a church discipline which will help the church select the right people for the Biblically structured right offices. It took a year, but the day came when all the older, married, with children males examined the book I had written. They approved unanimously.

Delighted we began by choosing ten deacons, and four elders who happened to be the four pastors. I was elected to ordain the deacons and the other three elders. I again was surprised because I was the one with out the formal training at 'Ozark Bible Collage, but I did as they asked. It was a big to do with a huge church supper to follow.

Then the proverbial 'shit' hit the fan. One of the ladies in the fellowship asked me if I still studied the philosophies I would refer to in some of my sermons. I said "I did". She then asked my opinion on the I Ching, and the Tarot. I told her I find them inspired and the Tarot comes from the old testament of the Bible.

The three elders whom I just ordained had decided that this needs to be prayed over because as an elder, my example had to be above reproach.

The prayer was brief and specific. I must stop having anything to do with Tarot, I Chiang, and any other questionable practice that I learned while going to a secular college. I told them that it seems my work with churches was finished, and I could devote myself to the Tarot, and my religion will be what I discover works. I was pretty sure that love had something to do with it.

That was twenty-three years ago and I have learned that all religions are connected and love is the common denominator.

Be Blessed

Sabazius

A the top of this page are the links to short stories and  Tarot readings written by me. There are more stories to come. The themes in the stories will be Learning lessons in life by living with your eyes open. This may appear to be moralizing, but to the serious practitioner of magick, witchcraft, and Qabalah you must be able to learn and teach from your own experiences.

Ahead, you will find lessons, practices, and anything else that I have discovered helpful to the study and practice of Cabalah

Khabalah, Qabala, or Qabalah all refer to the most ancient practice of "Know thy self". The word magick is most often used so as to differentiate between the illusionist, the slight of hand artist, and the real master of the energies inside ones self and then outside. The journey begins inside. It is the discovery of the universe within, which will translate into the so called universe out there!

Disclaimer; This site is intended for people eighteen years or older. Due to the religious content, and biblical content It may be misunderstood that this is in some way a recruitment for some sect or cult. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Moses, Solomon, and most of  all, the man named Jesus from Nazareth all biblical and historical people, who just happens to be the brightest stars in the constellation of magicians and references to them and their practices are unavoidable when discussing the subject of magick
